Labyrinth graphicI find myself standing with a growing number of people who have found that walking the labyrinth, individually and in community, is one powerful way to ground and focus our healing, peace and justice work in the world.

On Sunday, January 19, 3pm-6pm, several friends and I are inviting everyone to come to a Community Labyrinth Peace Walk at the Montclair Women’s Cultural Arts Club in Oakland, CA. I will present a short history of the labyrinth along with basic information about this ancient walking meditation tool ie. it is not a maze with deadends. It is a single path leading to the center and out again. I will also share some thoughts about how the labyrinth is a uniquely effective
community-building tool for people committed to healing, peace and justice.

The presentation will be followed by a candle-lit labyrinth walk accompanied by music. After the walk, all are welcome to reconvene to share reactions and responses.

We invite you to join us at this free event which is being made possible by the efforts and energies of Boo Price, Nina Ham, Beth Zeitman, Melanie DeMore, Dixie Horning and Rebekah Barnett.

Directions to Montclair Women’s Cultural Arts Club:
Take Highway 13 toward Oakland. Exit Moraga Ave./Thornhill Road. Turn left at first stop light (Thornhill). Next corner is Mountain Blvd. The Club is on the corner.

I hope to see you at one or both these events. The most powerful thing we each can do right now is to be visible and raise our voices in the cause of peace and justice.

One final note… here’s a true sign of hope. Click on Cities for Peace to see a growing list of towns and cities who have come out formally against the war.

I send you all strength for the journey –
